This is the heart and soul of the ASI Program! Ski mountaineering in the High Sierra and Mt. Shasta are the roots of the entire program.
In the mid 70's, this was a new frontier in Sierra adventure. There was so much to see and so much to ski that hadn't been done or at least, not by too many. There was a beckoning call for adventure and the challenge, all done with inferior equipment that brought out even more demand and more reward. It was an era we will never forget but love to pass on the spirit.
Mt. Whitney (14,494') 2 Day
The highest peak in the contiguous United States, fantastic granite alpine environment, combined with rigerous adventure makes this a sierra classic ski mountaineering ascent.
Mt. Dade (13,600'), Little Lakes Valley Loop 2 Day
From Little lakes Valley and Treasure lake, this climb of Mt. Dade provides amazing views of the High Sierra, a terrific ascent and descent as well as a loop trip descending Mills Creek.
Shasta Ski & Board Descent 3 Day
A chance to ski or board the beautiful bowls above Hidden Valley on Shasta and Shastina.
The Evolution Loop 5 Day
One of our most popular routes, encircling the spectacular Evolution Group in the Mt. Goddard region - the heart of the High Sierra.
Sierra High Route 7 Day
The premier Trans-Sierra high traverse, crossing the Sierra Nevada among its highest, most rugged East-West chain of peaks, cols and passes.
